"Saint Joseph with the Christ Child"
Oil on canvas
101 x 80 cm
6.000 - 7.000 €

Despite being born in Madrid, Juan Niño de Guevara lived and worked mainly in Malaga, where he became one of the greatest exponents of Baroque painting. He was a pupil of Miguel Manrique, a Hispano-Flemish master painter, and of Alonso Cano, in addition to study Humanities. Cano's influence was of great importance in his compositions and drawing, although the force of a more baroque character is observed in Niño de Guevara's last works.
